Color Throwdown 66... elegant eggplant, bordering blue, and rich razzleberry are the colors. I thought this was a very nice color combo and as soon as I saw the colors I thought about this comotion stamp of irises. I started with white base and added a strip of blue punched with the ms arches down the center and a strip of sheer purple ribbon on each side. I then rounded the corners of the razzleberry and added the purple that I had run the cuttlebug. Added the brads in each corner. Watercolored the irises. Added a frame for the sentiment. And finished with a sheer purple bow

Today the challenge for Stampin' Sisters in Christ was from the scripture I Chronicles 16:34. Such a thought provoking scripture!! It led me to be quite reflective today. So much in my life to give thanks for. First and formost for a Savior who first loved me, called me and saved me. I thought about all the people in my life that deserve a thanks. Although there are so many two standout that have always been there for me and encouraged me thru thick and thin. That is my mom and my sister. So I actually made a card for each of them today. It was a very windy today and the desert is a dusty place so when the wind blows all the real estate in the whole valley rearranges itself. After getting home from church it was a day to stay indoors for sure! So between laundry I worked on the cards. My mom is a extremely talented person and loves antiques, flowers and everything in between. My first card is for her. Because she loves flowers I made her this flower out of layers I cut from some creme lace and fastened it with a brad. The leaves I swished a couple of colors of green paint on some cardstock and then punched them out.I attached that to a scalloped oval of burgandy print. The base of the card is creme cardstock with the edges aged. I attached a piece of vintagenews print and some of this cool ribbed paper I saved from a box and an antique rose print dp which I punched the bottom edge with a fiskers punch. I also cut out and punched the burgandy with the same punch and then added the sentiment. I painted these hinges a greygreen and added to give it a book affect. I finished with a sheer burgandy bow and the strands of clear glass beads. My mom loves beads. This card is all about her. I chose the sentiment because I'm thankful for her for the person she is. The second card I made is for my sister. She is so giving and thoughtful and also very talented! Her tender spirit is a blessing to our entire family. Being so reflective today I was also thinking of my gramma . We all were given some of her antiques when she went to be with the Lord. She had this beautiful couch that is this very dark carved wood and upholstered in the coolest orange fabric and that is why I chose the color & theme for my sisters card. The image is a graphic45. The writing down the side of the image says Admirable( perfect cuz I admire my sis) . I stitched it in black onto the orange. I started with a tan cardstock and then added a dp in cremes, tans and lt browns although it doesnt show much in the photo.I attached the image on the orange over that. I used the ms arches punch to add black trim down the side. I painted a black florish and added to the top. One of the things I got from my gramma was one of her button boxes. I used a black one from her to tie the bow onto the card. The black and orange background for the sentiment completes it. I am thankful for this scripture today to remind me once again how blessed I am to have so many incredibly wonderful people in my life!!

This is my card for the Crazy 4 Challenges today. It is pretty open as you just have to use 3 gemetric shapes. I see the team had awesome cards that really are pretty but I chose to do a very simple card as I was working at a coworkers house hanging sheetrock and backer board most all night and until 2:30 this afternoon. Kinda rummy , the brain bee bees just aren't moving to quickly. hehe I used a dusty purple base for a gate card. I then punched a gold color with a Martha Stewart arches punch added a burgandy strip and a thin green strip. This forms a band that goes all around the card to hold it closed. I consider this a rectangle. I had colored the wreath earlier this week so used it for my circle shape and attached it as the focal point. I then punched 2 gold squares and then 2 burgandy rectangles and attached the sentiments on them. I then punched all these little gold leave to scatter around. Really I messed up and got some glue smeared and had to add lots of them to cover it. It really looked better when there were just a couple but had to cover the mess up. :) It was fun and fast using punches for most of the card.
This card is for three challenges, the EttTrykk Challenge , Creatalicious Challenge and the JUGS4. I started with a lavender base and added a lavender stripe with decorative stitching. I made my flower by using oval punch and layering them. I added a fuzzy white center and then thin lavender strips with black tips for stamens. I punched and colored leaves. There is a band of purple punched with a martha stewart punch and then a strip of lace added. I punched a lavender scalloped circle to put the sentiment on and the tied it on with some lace, purple and lavender fibers. Everything on my card was made from my scrap bins the only new was the lavender base.

This card is for the color throwdown. Celery, teal, and pomegranate were the colors we were to use. I chose to watercolor a basket of fruit. Mat it with the teal and pomegranate. For the background the dp has subtle tones of the colors. I stitched it on with a decorative stitch and then put teal brads on each corner. I ran a black sheer ribbon across before mounting the image. It is all put onto a celery base. I punched a pomegranate scalloped oval and a celery oval to mount the sentiment on. I have tried every setting on the camera and cannot find one that captures the fullness of color. The stripe and the image colors are much richer looking in person.

My card is for the Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge. Luke 2:11 was our Scripture. For us as Christians this Scripture is the reminder of the Gift of God for our salvation and a reminder of the true reason we celebrate Christmas. I Chose to do my card in black and white. The base card is white with blackened edges. Next I used a black and white dotted dp. It reminds me of little stars in the night sky. I punched the corners with a fiskars punch. I next cut a black layer and rounded the corners. I used a stampendous stamp called tiny babe. I love this stamp because it just says it all. All that our Savior is! I added black glitter to the star and the crown over Jesus and then I punched the corners on this also and then attached it to the black. I raised the black with foam dots. I put a small Joy to the World at the bottom of the card and attached a sheer white ribbon.
This Card is for the Prickley Pear Challenge. The fun layout determined how I placed everything. The Sunflowers I watercolored and cut out. I stitched the brown layer down first and then placed the sunflowers down. I then used a Martha Stewart punch for the black and yellow border at the bottom. I then cut out the black and scalloped the ends for the sentiment. I then punched 2 black and a yellow scalloped circle. I placed buttons in the center and tied them with some black fiber then fastened them onto the card.

1. My Card is for the Crazy for Challenges. I started with creme colored base and added a rusty red and found a checked dp that matches. The lemonade stamp is from Hero Arts colored with watercolor pencils. I used a nestibilities to cut out the reverse scallop in yellow. Its lifted up for some dimension. I punched 3 little daisies and used red brads for centers since I couldnt find any little lemons to put there. Used a little rafia for a bow.
2. For the inside I cut a circle out of the checked dp to be able to write a note in and added the sentiment and a couple little ovals with a daisy for a little added something.

This is my card for the color throwdown. I used black, sahara sand, and baja breeze. The base is sand with a baja rectangle sewn on. I cut a oval out of black another out of baja and ruffed up the edges then I ran the black thru the cuttle bug for some texture. These colors made me think of something old fashioned. I had this fun hat stamp from nancy & vicki I used. I used the sentiment pamper yourself. All ladies should be lavished with shoes and hats dont ya think? :) I tied a small dotted ribbon around the top.

This card is for the Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge. Kathy chose the awesome scripture out of Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed in your mothers womb I knew you. I think this is an amazing scripture. I embroidered it on my granddaughters quilt when she was born. Think of the significance of it???? Each of us He planned with His incredible Love!!! It was perfect timing as our family has been blessed with a new addition. My nephew and his wife had a little boy last week. I have been sick so have only seen the pics they sent me. I hope to be well enough to go see him later this week. Now my card is made and ready to go. :) I started with white base and cut down center to be able to open. I added a layer of blue on each side and then ran some white card stock thru the dotted swiss texture. I punched a blue oval and then sewed on the right side with a zigzaz stitch. I punched the little bib with a round punch and colored with a little yellow and green. Added a small bow I computer generated the welcome dayne and then put it on a layer of blue and cut around it. Each word is attached on the left side and floating free on the right. The oval has a little fastener on it to keep it closed. The inside has a pale yellow layer with a poem written on a white layer. After looking at the pic I realized I forgot to put the cute star I had on the end of Daynes name and the safety pin on the bow. Didnt feel up to redoing the pic but it looks better with those added. I think being sick the past9 days have done something to my brain. hehe

I decided to do a Thanksgiving card for the Crazy for Challenges today. I have started a thanks one but probably won't finish today as after being sick all week the mundane things are piled up. Imagine that not one good fairy came to my house in the night to help me out. LOL I chose to start with a light brown base card and then added a piece of soft orange( I know it looks gold) that had sprinkles of small little leaves on it. I love this particular swirl texture and highlited it with a litte lt brown and sewed it on with brown. The dk brown strip is punched with the morrocan. I used the inverted circle nestie to cut out the rusty color and then faux sewed around it. The print is from a psx stamp that my friend Martha let me use and I just put a little color on it with chalk and cut out and mounted. I layered the sentiment and then punched holes on each end and inserted the ribbon. It is a wonderful shimmery rust color. Although the colors look gold they really are much more rust color in person. Have a happy weekend. Its an absolutely glorious day here the temp is only 90 and a tiny breeze. The fall is such a wonderful reprieve after a hot summer!

This is my card for the Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge. First I want to say congrats to all the new team members. Your cards are all wonderful and inspiring!! I was thinking about how sometimes we find rejoicing easy when life is "good" but when things aren't as we would like we must still make a choice to rejoice because we have a Heavenly Father who always has our best in mind not because of circumstances . My husband is worship leader at our church so we have lots of music at our house. He is always playing one of his guitars and singing praise songs. When I think of rejoicing music comes to mind so I stamped the striped paper with a few musical notes then stitched it onto the green base. The notes have a little black glitter on them which adds a little sparkle My morning glories are a stamp from stampendous that I watercolored. and then did a little aging on the paper. I added some dew drops where the water drops were. In person it does look like some little water drops. I made a frame out of black for the morning glories and then mounted that onto the striped paper. My sentiment is from the song Rejoice in the Lord Always. I aged it a bit and mounted it on black and then I stamped a little vine on morning glories and cut them out and and put around part of it. Finished with a black bow. After looking at the pic I took the bow off and make it smaller.
This card has a little card on the front that opens and has a pic and a sentiment inside for a little extra something. The little flowers werethree layers punched and put together with a little yellow and black center. There is yellow and green mulberry paper added for some texture and the little card is tied shut with some raffia and a little tied around the card also. The flowers and layer look sorta cherry but they are actually red.

This is my card for Funky Fairys Challenge. I started with the olive. I punched the corners on the grey and then added the rust. Stitched them down onto the olive. I didnt have any razzelberry so I used the closest I could find to punch the circle that I ran thru the cuttlebug. Added the thinking of you and then lifted it up with some sponge dots. The leaves were embossed with black and one with rust. I then added a little color to them to try to bring all the colors together. After I attached them I added some flourishes with black. Supposed to give you the feel of wind blowing.

This is the second card for the ABC Challenge. I used a cuttlebug to emboss the green background as you can see. Green is one of my favorite colors and here in the desert you dont see green like you do in other parts of the country so I put lots onto this card. The base is a DP green printed instead of a solid color. The swirls on the embossed part reminded me of vines thats why I chose it to go with this image. The whole thing was fastened on with black brads. A little sentiment also fastened on with a brad and topped with a bow
While just cruising around blogland I came across the ABC Challenge. Sounds like lots of fun so here is the card I made a while back for no special occasion thats why there isnt a sentiment in the oval yet. Just waiting to see what I will use it for and then will put a sentiment there. Its embossed on the cuttlebug on the two layers of lavender and putple and also the borderpunch on the bottom also has some embossing on it even though it doesnt show very well.
