Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge # 15

This card is for Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge. The challenge was to make a card with a gift on it. I started with a lt green and added a print from adventures. I attached it and "stitched" it. I then used some black stickles to darken the sentiments. and then matted them on the dk green. I punched the dark green with a square marvy punch and then ran thru the cuttlebug dotted swiss. I then punched the dk green border with a fiskers punch. The card opens off set. Made a gift and put in center or the green square then used stickles for the flourishes. On the inside of the card I finished the sentiment on a banner that I dotted with stickles and made lots of pretty gifts. On the left I also added another piece of the dp that I punched again with the fiskers punch. I added another strip of the dp on the right side also. See the inside below.

Just Us Girls Challenge # 9

My project is for Just Us Girls Challenge. Our challenge was to make a gift container. I tweaked the bag one just a bit. I had this gorgeous bobunny paper. It has these beautiful snowflakes around the border and music in the center. I first painted the inside to match the purple color because they were white on the backside. I sewed my two pieces of paper together with silver thread. I punched the 4 holes and reinforced them with two extra pieces of paperfor each hole so they would be strong enough for the handles. My ribbon was white and to stark for the paper so I dyed it purple to match. It has silver glittered swirly design on it and is very pretty . I then put them thru the holes and made knots to hold them. Next fastened the box inside for the bottom. Next I used nestiblities oval to cut the purple and cream pieces to make a tag. I then used a MS snowflake punch and glittered them. I glued one behind and then used foam dots to make the other two at different layers and attached to the oval. I then punched small and large snowflakes in purple and vellum and glittered them. I then punched several circles colored edges and glittered them and added the snowflake to them and attached with foam dots. I took several pics so you can see up close what they look like. The camera doesnt have enough zoom to take a close up so you can see how pretty it really is.

Crazy 4 Challenges #13

This card is for the Crazy 4 Challenges. We were to use punches. I used SU punch for the oval handle and also the SU scalloped punch for the pink to surround the handle. I used a MS doily border punch for the pink border. I cut the leaves out and the stems for the flowers. I used two sizes of marvy scalloped circles punches to make the pink flowers. I added a black and white dotted ribbon, sentiment and of course a few jewels. See inside below... On the side I used the SU punches for handles again. Cut out a pink base and used the MS doily punch again for the grey border and added a black strip on both sides. I used a marvy daisy punch on two colors of pink for the little flower and then cut out two green leaves. Finished of by shading the white and added the sentiment. This was a fun challenge!

The Pink Elephant Challenge # 42 & 43

Wow finally able to post...Mr linky MIA for quite a while

This card is for the Pink Elephant Challenge. The challenge was plaids and brads and favorite coloring medium. I only have watercolor pencils so that would be my favorite medium. :)
I used red for my card base and used a piece of plaid from colorbox. I colored the SU image with watercolors and cut it out and mounted it on the gold. I then ran the green thru the cuttlebug and rounded the corners. I mounted the image on to the green and attached to the plaid. I "stitched" around the plaid and I then generated the sentiment on the computer and mounted it on the gold and green then attached to the plaid. I had these fun green zebra striped brads that I attached to the red buttons and then punched a green circle to mount them onto the plaid. I attached the whole thing to the red and finished with the red brads in the corners. Inside the card I punched white, plaid and red circles to hide the brads. I then stamped the SU image and watercolored. I punched the plaid with MS circles border punch and attached to the white and then mounted the image. It doesnt show very well but the onside image says "A kind word a day keeps the blues away".

Color Throwdown Challenge # 70

This card is for the Color Throwdown Challenge. The challenge colors were dusty durango, old olive and elegant eggplant. I started with old olive for my card base. I used the MS butterfly border punch on the eggplant and then attached a thin strip of durango to put across the top of the card. I used some glitter on the butterflies. I watercolored the PB image and then matted it on the eggplant that has corners punched with a fisker corner punch then matted on the durango. I used a piece of eggplant to make a strip under the matting. I used the SU oval punches to attach my sentiment to. I used durango for the inside and added another strip of the butterflies in eggplant to finish it.

Stampin'Sisters in Christ Challenge #14

This card is for Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge. Helen chose Galations 6:9 as the scripture. It is a great scripture to certainly challenge us to keep on keepin on for the prize that lays befores us! Most appropriate reminder especially for me as it has been a trying week. Her challenge was to make a Thanksgiving card to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving. Have any of you read the proclamation that Abraham Lincoln wrote to begin Thanksgiving? Wow, the president proclaiming that we are straying from God and need to remember where all we have comes from. It's quite moving. Anyone interested I would email you a copy. I do not have any actual thanksgiving stamps so I chose to use leaves that I embossed with black embossing powder and then colored with alcohol inks. I matted the orange on a grey that I punched corners with a marvy punch. I sewed it on with black and then stamped flourishes and went over them with black stickles for some sparkle. I put the sentiment on the purple and embossed it with the dotted swiss folder. Pop dotted it up for dimensionand added the little flower. I am so thankful First for a Savior and then for my family, friends & brothers and sisters in Christ. HAPPY THANKSGIVING

The Crazy 4 Challenges #12

This card is for The Crazy 4 Challenges . It has been one of those weeks. When I looked at this image it made me laugh. Sorta how I felt this week "overloaded" so I had to use it. hehe I didnt have any dp with strawberries on it but had this scrap with a red berries on it so it worked. Matted my little watercolored image on the red and black mats that I punched with a fisker corner punch. I had to make 3 little strawberries to put up in the corner since of course I couldn't find any kind of strawberry buttons or something. I lifted them three different heighths to give some dimension to them. I matted the sentiment and tied it with a little dotted ribbon and popped it up also My camera doesn't capture the colors accurately. The red is actually very deep and it looks sorta orangey here.

The Pink Elephant Challenge

This is for The Pink Elephant Challenge. I found their fun challenge and it was for a round layout which I love to make. I used a ekmorrocan punch around the edge of the circle since I didnt have the scallop the layout called for. Started with a light pink and added a scrap of dp I had, a paisley print. The angel stamp is unnamed. I colored it with watercolor to coordinate with the dp and matted it on a blue. Added the lace and bow. There is also some gold glitter embellishment and embellishments on the paisleys although doesnt really show. :) If you enlarge it will show better.

The Color Throwdown Challenge #69

This card is for The Color Throwdown Challenge. The colors were creme, dark red, chocolate and olive. I used a red base and a piece of scrap printed dp. Embossed the chocolate with a snowflake pattern and stitched onto the dp. The pic was stamped with a old Penny Black Santa Quartet colored with watercolors. Punched a red scallop, tore a chocolate circle and punched a white scallop with believe stamped on it. I added the olive green leaves punched with Martha Stewart and red tags. All fastened with red brads in the corners.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge

This is my card for Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge. The Scripture was I Corinthians 13:12. Awesome Scripture to remind us of how much more there is for us as we see our Savior face to face. The challenge was to make a shadowbox card. This was another first for me. I hadn't seen or made one before. My mind was spinning with possibilities for this kind of card. I used 2 shades of green from colorbox. I used the ek morrocan punch to punch the sides. I used this frame stamp that has no name but I just love it. I watercolored it and cut it out. I cut out the green background and fastened the frame over the cut out . Originally I entended to make a small cut out up above the first one that is why I didnt center it but decided it would detract from the central one so didnt do that after all. I then used stickles to run all over the card for a shimmery design. I cut my Scripture out and pop dotted it up on the back piece of green.Fastened the back and front together and finished with some green jewels scattered around and a ribbon loop with a pearl on it. This was a really fun card to make!! Blessings to you all this week.

Just Us Girls Challenge

This card is for the Just us Girls Challenge. I was to create a project with dry embossing. It is also Dana's Birthday so the twist was that it was to be for a birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANA!!! I did a easel card. I started with the cute little image of a girl in a tub of bubbles. I cut out a scalloped oval and embossed it with circles. I had a piece of paper with different size circles and some matching flowers so used that for my dp. I cut a flower out and shadowed it with some blue for the top corner and then cut 3 sizes of circles out and overlapped them. I cut 4 "bubbles" to put the sentiments in. I also embossed them. I cut some acetate circle and embossed them and added a jewel to the center of them. Lots of circles...bubbles! For the base I punched a blue and a blue and white check with the Martha Stewart dot punch. I then embossed a white with the flowers and brushed a little blue on top to make them show up a little better. I added some blue and silver beads to finish the edge and cut out a flower and pop dotted it up for the stop. Hey I just figured out how I could make to 2 up close pics smaller. I learn something every challenge that I do!! Someday I will actually get the hang of how to do all of this. :)

Crazy 4 Challenges

This post is for the Crazy 4 Challenges today. The challenge was to use acetate, and it was a challenge indeed! I have never used it or ever bought it before. I went to the tutorials and read them. I found a cover to a report that I had that I believe is acetate. I tried several of the techniques but didnt have all the products I needed as Im in a rural area with no access. So I decided to just cut a small inverted scallop nestibilities window for the snowflake and added a glittered frame to it. I then glued the acetate to the back side and then put some glitter inside and added the snowflake. Next I used the larger inverted circle nestibilities to make another circle. I outlined it with some irridicent liquid glitter and then used my circle cutters to cut a thin frame to put around it. Next I ran the acetate thru the cuttlebug with a snowflake embossing. Glued it to the inside of the circle. I then punched some snowflakes and glitter them. I added a sheer glittery ribbon. I stamped the little snow man and added some snowflakes around him and glittered them up. I gave him just a little bit of color. This I fastened to the inside of the card. It is quite sparkly and with the texture it really looks nice in person. :) As you can see by the close up the embossing on the acetate adds lots of texture and the light plays off of it so it also has some depth to it. Turned out to be fun once I got the hang of it.

The Color Throwdown Challenge

This Card is for the Color Throwdown Challenge. It was to use only orange, real red, dark neutral and crushed curry. I chose to use this stamp oasis image that I love. I framed it in curry, red and orange. I then added red and yellow beads all the way around the image. I had a piece of dp that had yellows, reds and oranges on it. It mostly covered but it had a victorian look to it so thats why I paired it with this image.Used a decorative stitch down one side and regular around the rest. I cut out the leaves and colored them with different colors of embossing powder and fastened them down with the square brad. The black is punched with the Martha Stewart doily. Added the curry and red and the sentiment.

For Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge Candace picked a subject that I'm passionate about. Our men and women serving in the armed forces deserve far more recognition than they receive. My daughters are both married to military men. My youngest daughters' husband will be returning to the middle east for a fourth tour next summer. I had the privilage of attending the deployment services at Ft. Wainwright, Ak. the last time my son in law deployed. It is extremely moving when you look out over all the men and women and realize some will not be returning and they leave knowing that. Then you look at the sea of children, women and men and know that some of their daddys, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, daughters and sons will not be returning. The sacrifice they make is huge. Its a honor to make these cards!!! My first card was made of kraft with the red corners punched and the white slipped in. I Added the brave from a piece of military paper I had. I tied it on with some rafia. Made a bow and added the gold star button.

My second card is several layers. I dont know if it has a name but my mom got a card made like this and its fun to do. I started with a single piece of white. I then cut a piece of blue twice the length and folded in half. I cut half away and stamped the star with versamark. I stamped the thank you and layered it. Next I cut a piece of white and folded it in half. I stamped the two images in black and layered them and attached to the white. I then punched the blue and red circles and then punched the gold stars. and attached to the white. This white layer opens up to write the message inside.

Just Us Girsl Challenge

Just Us Girls has a great layout challenge today, check them out. My card is pretty simple. I started with white and added a lime green mat stitched on with dark green. I watercolored a floral heart stamp that I dont know the name of and matted it on a dark green that I ran thru the cuttlebug for some texture and lifted it up with some foam dots. I punched out some little green diamonds and added a little green jewel to each one of them. I added a piece of striped K&K paper that matched the colors in the image and background papers. I added a little pink ribbon and stamped the sentiment.

Crazy 4 Challenges

This Crazy 4 Challenges was just too fun. I have never made an easel card and only seen one before today! Took a little staring at the teams cards to get it figured out but I did it!! I started with a khaki colored cardstock and added a floral print It has pinks, browns, rust ,olive green, white and black. I made a flower out of several layers of the pink and khaki green with daisy and brad center. Did a decorative stitch around the perimeter. The image is from stampin up called I like your style. I water colored it and put it on several layers. I just couldnt get the embossing to show on the black with the pink dot but there is a deeply embossed daisy there and also on the black strip on the bottom has a deeply embossed flourish with daisies in the center. I tied the pink bow and tied the little black around that for some added color. I know it would have looked better with a softer fabric ribbon but that was all I had and the closest place to find ribbon is walmart which is half a hour away... not driving all that way for a ribbon. On the bottom I used a button fastened onto the pink as a stop. I punched the edge of the dp with the ms punch and put black behind so it would show better. The coordinating stripe paper I added underneath the black. It looks blah but really the embossing on the black really jazzes it up. Hey, as you can see I was able to get a pic and add it so you could see the embossing.

Color Throwdown #67

This is for the Color Throwdown
I started with a Tilda coloring it in colors that went with the throwdown. I started with tango mandarin since I didnt have dusty durango. I did however have the ink pad so stamped the little flowers on the background ( if you look close you can see them). I then punched the ziz zag design across the top to match the bottom band. Punched the always artichoke with the ms punch on both side added a matching ribbon across center. Tied a bow with same ribbon and tied a little wooden button onto it with some string. I rounded the corners of the soft sky and the kraft. I punched the 4 corners with a little flower center punch. I finished it with the little sentiment that says a friend is someone who always makes it easy.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge

This is for Stampin'Sisters in Christ If you haven't visited their blog do so. It is very encouraging!! The Challenge started with Deuteronomy 31:8. When God is unseen... make something that would encourage someone. My card started with a textured purple cardstock. I added black corners punched with a fiskers punch and stamped with ivory.I cut a oval out of ivory watercolor paper and aged it. I then added a striped dp which I stitched on. I also stitched a black scalloped hinge onto it. I then cut black square to mount the Scripture on to. I Added the flower and leaves to dress it up a bit.
I then mounted the scripture onto a black scalloped oval and added it to the inside of the oval.
I added the sheer black ribbon to tie the oval shut. I then mounted that all onto the purple cardstock. The card also opens and I added the pocket made out of the floral dp and stitched it on. . I made a bookmark out of the purple and ivory cardstock and put the Scripture II Tim 3:16-17 onto it. I then added a bunch of ivory, purple and lavender fibers. If you scroll down you will see the inside of the oval and the inside of the card.

Just Us Girls Challenge

This is for Just us Girls Challenge

Just us Girls has a fun wildcard challenge this week. The challenge is to make a holiday card that presents a photo. I started with white cardstock and put the blue all around the edges, then stitched the dp onto the bluecardstock and mounted them onto the white. I made a ornament that I ran thru the cuttlebug for texture and colored and added a little of glitter. I cut a silver top for the ornament and then mounted it with a silver brad. I cut a circle out of the center of the card and cut a inverted circle out of blue to frame it. I then cut a second inverted circle and framed the photo itself. I then aligned the photo inside with the cut out and glued it inside the card. The ornament swivels up to reveal the photo. The card does open and you can see the photo inside also.
