Today the challenge for Stampin' Sisters in Christ was from the scripture I Chronicles 16:34. Such a thought provoking scripture!! It led me to be quite reflective today. So much in my life to give thanks for. First and formost for a Savior who first loved me, called me and saved me. I thought about all the people in my life that deserve a thanks. Although there are so many two standout that have always been there for me and encouraged me thru thick and thin. That is my mom and my sister. So I actually made a card for each of them today. It was a very windy today and the desert is a dusty place so when the wind blows all the real estate in the whole valley rearranges itself. After getting home from church it was a day to stay indoors for sure! So between laundry I worked on the cards. My mom is a extremely talented person and loves antiques, flowers and everything in between. My first card is for her. Because she loves flowers I made her this flower out of layers I cut from some creme lace and fastened it with a brad. The leaves I swished a couple of colors of green paint on some cardstock and then punched them out.I attached that to a scalloped oval of burgandy print. The base of the card is creme cardstock with the edges aged. I attached a piece of vintagenews print and some of this cool ribbed paper I saved from a box and an antique rose print dp which I punched the bottom edge with a fiskers punch. I also cut out and punched the burgandy with the same punch and then added the sentiment. I painted these hinges a greygreen and added to give it a book affect. I finished with a sheer burgandy bow and the strands of clear glass beads. My mom loves beads. This card is all about her. I chose the sentiment because I'm thankful for her for the person she is. The second card I made is for my sister. She is so giving and thoughtful and also very talented! Her tender spirit is a blessing to our entire family. Being so reflective today I was also thinking of my gramma . We all were given some of her antiques when she went to be with the Lord. She had this beautiful couch that is this very dark carved wood and upholstered in the coolest orange fabric and that is why I chose the color & theme for my sisters card. The image is a graphic45. The writing down the side of the image says Admirable( perfect cuz I admire my sis) . I stitched it in black onto the orange. I started with a tan cardstock and then added a dp in cremes, tans and lt browns although it doesnt show much in the photo.I attached the image on the orange over that. I used the ms arches punch to add black trim down the side. I painted a black florish and added to the top. One of the things I got from my gramma was one of her button boxes. I used a black one from her to tie the bow onto the card. The black and orange background for the sentiment completes it. I am thankful for this scripture today to remind me once again how blessed I am to have so many incredibly wonderful people in my life!!
