ARMED FORCES DAY

Happy Saturday to you! Today is Armed Forces Day and my card is to honor all those who have served and are serving our country. My father was in the US Army and fought in WWII so I was raised in a very patriotic home. My girls father also served and fought in Vietnam, was wounded and received several medals but didn't consider himself a hero but rather just serving his country. Both of my daughters are married to military men who are deployed at this time. The last time my SIL was deployed to Iraq I was visiting them in Alaska and attended the Deployment Program. It was truely one of those life changing events. As I looked out on that sea of men and women on the tarmac and looked around me at all the fathers, mothers, wives, husbands and children in the bleachers the reality of the situation struck me. There would be some who would not return home alive and the lives of those left behind would be forever changed. It is at a great cost our brave men and women serve and I honor their sacrifice and the sacrifice of their families. It's not easy for the families to send them off either.

I had this old homespun SU set that I used. Since I cant sew, emboss or use dies I made it very simple just using a couple of punches for the border and little stars.

I really like this quote from Will Rogers " We can't all be heroes because someone has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by." So I applaud all of our heroes serving today.

My hat is off to our service men and women, and their families. Your card is a wonderful tribute to them. You are doing so well without your CB and I like the "less is more" anyway. You coordinated the stars, colors and everything so well. Love it!

Be blessed, Martha

What a wonderful card, Davi! And, you didn't even need to sew, emboss, or use dies to give this great tribute to the men and women in the military. A big thank you to your family members serving or who have served. We owe them and their families so much.

A wonderful card, Davi. My husband was also in Vietnam, my son was deployed twice, Iraq and Egypt, and my daughter received an honorable discharge after fracturing her pelvis in several places. So I'll stand with you, Davi!
