PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE & PASSIONATELY ARTISTIC

Please scroll down for my Pixie Cottage post.

Wednesday brings Passionately Artistic's new linking party. Hope you will hop on
over and join in the fun with your special creations.
I have made a wall hanging for a dear friend/ former co worker who had bleeding
around her heart and had emergency surgery.
I wanted to make something with pretty spring flowers and hope for new season of good health. After cutting out the base I stitched around it and antiqued..even though
it doesn't really show up to well.

Next I stamped the flourishes with the SU doodle set and then used a stencil for the dotted areas.
The bird is a Stampin' Up die embossed with a script folder and then
antiqued.

The sentiment is cut out with a Stampin' Up alphabet and attached to the
dotted Spellbinder fancy tag. A little handmade flower attached to the corner.

The Scripture Philippians 4:7 was printed torn out and edges scruffed up and antiqued.
The key in the birds mouth is cut out of a piece of antiqued copper screen.
Thought it was cool the way you can see through it.
The key is a Paper Trey Ink die. Point of this part is that Jesus is
the key to peace in our lives no matter what is going on.

I made several different sizes of flowers using the peach and rusty colors. Using
some dotted dp I cut out leaves and and attached.
Lastly I dyed ribbon to match. Making a big scrunched bow and
hanger with it.

The Pixie Cottage Challenge & Passionately Artistic Challenges

Happy Wednesday friends. Today I have two posts for you.

The Pixie Cottage has a sketch you can use or a theme. This week it is Pretty Pastels.

Now that makes me think of spring. The lovely pops of color starting,
well at least here in the desert!
I decided to make a little Easter pocket for my granddaughter. I embossed the back
then folded a 12X12 paper to make the pocket and punched a daisy on the tip. Next I embossed
two white triangle and attached.Water coloring the sweet
Everybody wants some bunny to love image I cut it out to attach on the pocket.
Some pretty daisy edging and buttons finish the pocket.

I made three tags and a tab for the bag of M&Ms. The candy tab layers were cut with a Spellbinder. Using the sweet image Buffy the Bunny & easter basket, I water colored, cut out and attached to the candy. A little sentiment and button finishes it.
The tag was cut with a Spellbinder and a vintage image, button and bow added.

For the gift tag I used the water colored Buffy the Bunny & little chick image. The top was cut with a Spellbinder, striped dp added and stitched. Made a little pocket with a punched top using the MS daisy punch. Decorated up with a couple little eggs and sentiment and the button.
The other tag was cut with a Spellbinder and dp, a vintage egg image, button and bow added.
Hope you will stop by to see all the lovely creations
from the team.

TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

Are you all ready for our new Tuesday Throwdown Challenge? Our lovely images are from our sponsor Sweet n Sassy. Our theme is use some type of clip.I chose to use the Ocean Paradise. After printing twice I water colored and cut out the umbrella on the second image. It is popped up for a little dimension. This image brings you to such a peaceful place I love it. A scrap of plaid I had seemed perfect with a scrap of the burgandy seems to makes the image pop out. After making a tag I scruffed it up a bit and attached with the clip I made sewing a button to a colored paper clip. Now be sure to stop by and see my teammates great creations.

PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE & PASSIONATELY ARTISTIC

Good Morning sweet friends. Hope you day is going well. Here in the desert we
had a big wind last night with gusts up to 50 and it sure made a mess. Everything
is covered with a layer of dirt and anything loose was blown all around the yard,
even blew the top lid off the cooler and blew off the roof! But of course it was
nothing compared with the terrible devastation all those suffered from the
horrible tornadoes. Amazing stories of survival are emerging there. We
are praying for all those effected.

The Pixie Cottage challenge this week is things with wings.
I have used the Pixie Cottage rubber stamp, Edith the Butterfly
found at Michelle's Scrapbooking & More.

I have used some Basic Grey dp and stitched around it.
The ribbon was dyed to match and tied with the button.
The image was water colored and cut out with a Spellbinder #25.
I stamped the image a second time and cut out just the wings and popped
them up for some dimension.
Some faux stitching and then foam dotted on the base.

The border is a MS Butterfly with the bottom portion embossed with
a small dots folder. The sentiment is matted on a Spellbinder
Fancy tag foam dotted on.

Using Mona's CR84FN Color challenge for this wall hanging.

I made it for one of the ladies in my Womens Ministry Group. I try to do something for each of their birthdays. She loves yellow so this was the perfect challenge. I gave it to her this morning and she was delighted with it.

Using a piece of fiber board I drilled holes to hang it and then painted it white working
in some yellows and greys for the background. Although it doesn't show well because some of it was rather light I stamped, painted, stenciled
and doodled all around. Added some grey splatters and the background was finished.
I had a perfect dp that is yellow with grey strips. Slathered some grey textured
medium onto the card board cut out and stitched on the dp.

I made some grey paper to stamp the scripture onto and cut out with the Spellbinder.

The flowers were die cut out of the kraft paper and a little yellow chalk on the edges. The little grey flowers were punched and layers then I cut some leaves to go with all the flowers. You can see a closer up of one of the flowers below. Those flowers definitely needed a butterfly to flit among them.

I didn't have anything grey to go around the hanger holes so dug in my husbands drawers and used a couple washers to go with the grey theme pulled the ribbon through and tied a bow to hang it by.
Thanks for stopping by today.

PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE

Happy Wednesday so glad you stopped by. Our challenge at The Pixie Cottage is Anything Goes and there is also a sketch, your choice. I am making paper bag albums for a upcoming boutique so this is one of the covers. Using the lovely Pixie Cottage hummingbird image for the focal point I floated shades of green around it. The corner flourish is a Cheery Lynn that my sweet sis got for me. After stitching all around it I used the Stampin Up small wonder stamp which seemed so fitting. I think hummers are such wondrous little creations of God, they fascinate me with their agility and speed.
Sometimes when I'm in the garden they
will come and take a little dust bath or
flit through the spray as I water all
the time twittering as if to sing me a song of thanks. That is why I chose this sentiment.
You all can join in as its anything goes so come on over.

TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

Link
Here it is Tuesday again and time for a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown. Our great sponsors at PinkCat Studio supplied us with some very fun image. Be sure to stop by and check out all their wonderful selection. Our theme is torn paper. The prissy little Kitty made me think of a Parisian theme. I stamped a few background images including the eifelle tower, next I embossed with a script folder and then swipped the raised script with some black ink then torn the B&W floral print and attached, I tore several sized circles for the little flower and tore a leaf. The image is water colored and cut out with the Spellbinder label #21, then matted on the scalloped oval. I did two of the image and cut out her hat and pop dotted it up for extra dimension. The Spellbinder Fleur dis le border stitched on and embellieshed with buttons.
Yikes I think my computer is slowly dying. First the cord to upload pics wouldnt work and when I forgot to add the sentiment and redid the pic it would not read my card. So here it is no sentiment. Might be a little challenging to get pics for next week challenge!
Shannon White has joined our team so be sure to stop by and welcome her .

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

This is my first attempt at joining Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Five words to
demonstrate and here is what I came up with.

CROSSED
There are so many things you could use for crossed but this one made me
laugh so thought it would be a good start.

GLIMPSE
I walked outside, looked over at the fence and thought the hole would be the
one for a glimpse and as walked up to the knot hole
I could see the tip of a branch
how perfect is that for a glimpse!
Love that aged wood.

BLISSLots of things that I would consider bliss would be difficult to photograph or its
a place where Im not right now soooo. Our son in law who lives in Michigan is working in
southern California about 4 hours away.
He came to visit yesterday and since its the first time he has been to our home
I had to make it a little special. Im not a chocolate fanatic so I
made some fabulous lemon curd to fill a white cake and to
drizzle a little over the top with white
chocolate curls and a few
raspberries and yes it was bliss.

HANDWRITTEN

A note from a precious older lady who was a great mentor
early in my Christian walk. She was such a blessing to me and yet
even though she was much more the giver to me, in her humility
she saw me as the giver. This note was one
of several and Ive kept it all these years to remind
me of how to be a mentor to others.

GREY
In the desert there arent to many grey days! Soo this
was the best I could do. Snapped it just before the sun came up this
morning, as you can see the wind is blowing again.

Even though either my skills nor camera are the best I really had fun
trying the Scavenger hunt. I was enticed to try from the
truly talented photograper Linda @ My Happy Place She just has
the most amazing shots, really captivating!
