PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE and PASSIONATLEY ARTISTIC

Since I have several posts today I am going to combine these two. My first card is for our Pixie Cottage Challenge which is stitching. It can be real or faux so you all can join in. My image is a rose by Artish found here. I used a decorative stitch around the striped dp and then two more decorative leaf stitches between the stripes. Faux stitching around the image. The rose is water colored and cut out with a Spellbinder scalloped oval and matted on another. A punched a strip with the Ms looped punch and added the embossed center behind the image. Three little flowers with jewel centers and satin bow finish it. I was shocked when I went to post, in this pic the pinks look awful together they look great in person can't explain it.

This Second Post is for Passionately Artistic
For Passionately Artistic we are continuing our Spring flower theme. I love this lily image which I water colored and cut out.The spots on the lily are stickled. I matted the on a black and orange for a bold look. Some stitching and a sentiment to finish it off.

PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE

Wohoo its Wednesday! Are you ready for the new Pixie Cottage Challenge? It is Sparkle! Get out your jewels, stickles, glitter and go for it!! I went for the easy stickles bottles :) My image is the girly girl image Fairy Molly by Eileen Gutierrez found at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More Store.
First I water colored her, stickled up her dress, wings, all the little flowers and then cut out with a Spellbinders scalloped oval. Next I cut a piece of the lavender and did some diagonal embossing. After I rounded the bottom I used the MS hydrangea punch and went around 3 sides then stickled the flower centers. Next was to cut out the purple banner, stickle and attached the sentiment. Lastly dyed some purple ribbon made a bow and added the jewel to the center

Next I made a gate card with a white base and stitched on the pretty little lavender print, did the edge with the Ms scalloped punch and added the scalloped ovals. Used some misc flower punches to make the little flowers for them. I attached the flap with image from the back to come over the top to act as a closure instead of tying it with a ribbon.

For the inside I embossed a piece with dotted swiss folder, added some decorative corners and stamped the sentiment on another piece cut with the Spellbinder oval. Attached another flower.

TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

Good Morning Everyone hope you week is staring off well. Our challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is scraps.... reeaaaally scraps! Now if I had done a card it would have been easier but I'm trying to finish up another recipe album and was determined to make this recipe page. Of course my Big boxful of scraps sure didnt work with what I wanted to do sooo had to change the plan. Since the recipe is asparagus I wanted lots of green but the scrap colors were not cooperating much on that either. Blessed are the flexible they shall not break, have you heard that one before??

Well I had this dotted green scrap but had to place my pocket in that spot as there was a chunk out just slightly smaller than the pocket. I love this image even though it has veggies other than the recipe ingredients. I water colored it and stitched it onto the green. I used the textured kraft paper scrap down the side and added some buttons and some of the ingredients I drew and water colored. These books are filled will family recipes for my daughters and niece.

The recipe is mounted onto a multicolored stripe with a little tag top to pull it out with. The recipe name was put onto a checked scrap..... this turned out to be a Real Challenge LOL

Spring Pics

Thought I would share a few pics from my corner of the world. It is beautiful weather here in the Southwest desert. I spent some time weeding, trimming and just enjoying the wonderful weather. There was lots of sun and as I was working I notice the wonderful textures and shadows so grabbed the camera. BE sure to go to the bottom as I have saved the BEST for last!!

A couple sunflowers came up in the peas and their cheery faces are lifted to greet the sun.

One of the bell peppers ripening, had some water drops on it.

The bright yellow flowers on the tomatoes were such a cool compliment to the green leaves

This one of my fun cactus covered with tons of babies. The way the sun was hitting on this one almost makes it look like a flower doesnt it??

Check these out~~~
The Hummers were twitting and diving about and suddenly I notice one flying into the tree and WOW there was a nest. Is this toooo cool of a shot of her on the little nest. It is not even as big as your thumb. Look how perfectly woven it is. My camera doesnt have a lot of zoom power so I got on a ladder to get a closer shot.

Heart Song Designs Digis.... Newest Releases

Todays Heart Song Designs release is a beautiful tulip and a fun flower set....Bloom Trimmers.

I water colored the tulip then cut out and put onto the scalloped oval.Made some punched strips, dotted and attached to the top. Water colored a strip of smaller tulips and attached onto the base with some scallops that I dotted. Made a double button stop for the top then dyed some ribbon, added a button and also made a tiny tulip for the HB tag. Thats the fun thing about digis you can make all sizes.

For my next project I used the flower set to decorate a picture frame for my 3 year old granddaughter. Her daddy deployed to Afghanistan 3 weeks ago but 5 days after he got there his father died unexpectedly and he had to come home. He just left again yesterday so this frame is for her to put a pic of her and her daddy in. This set is so versatile it could be used for embellies on card or on a variety of others projects etc!!
I printed out several pages and water colored them. There is a third flower which I didn't use on this project. I bought a UGLY frame at the dollar store, sanded and painted it white. Cut everything out and added some glitter to them. I layered the flowers for some fun dimension.

Added the butterflies with some little flying trails and the faux stitching around the inside and there you go a cute little girlie frame.

Passionately Artistic

Can you believe its already March?? Passionately Artistic is having A Spring Flowers Wednesday. You can choose what you would like to make. I do love those easels and thats what I chose to do. It is warming up here in the desert and everything is starting to bud out. Soon it will be pretty and green for a while before the heat scorches it so I chose something very springy.

If you visit my blog very often you have probably figured out I LOVE flowers. They are so beautiful and they fasinate me. They come in the most amazing colors, shapes and sizes. Birds, butterflies, bugs and animals feast on some part of them, and I do love to use them in salads or stuff some of them. They are spicy, colorful and fun. Sooooooo with that non pertinent info here are some closer up pics of parts of my card.

Used a couple colors for the leaves so they didn't all blend together. The punched butterflies and flowers have stickles on them for a bit of shimmer. Dyed my ribbon to match. Stitched on the lace and added purple jewels.

Wish you could see these beads in person. They look ho hum in the photo they are kind of clear yet not see thru with the most beautiful iridescent sheen that reflects the purple. Used purple and lavender buttons for the stop.

My favorite colors are greens and purples. I made some big flowers and a few little ones. I water colored the butterflies and glittered them up a bit.

Supplies: SU and My Minds Eye papers, lace, buttons, gems and beads from stash, MS butterfly & zig zag punch, no name flower punch, Spellbinder flower and Label # 4 nesties and Sherrod Studio Butterflies.

TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

This week at Tuesday Throwdown our challenge is Tag It. Use a tag on your creation and stop by to join us. Our sponsor this week is Robins Fetish Digital Stamps and More and the strawberry image was perfect timing. My boss gave me some strawberries to do something with because they weren't sweet. So I sugared them up and made some Stawberry Sauce.

I used the image on my card and a shrunk up version on the recipe card. Should have made a smaller one for my tag but had a different plan with a larger tag to start with. My images were water colored and I stitched around the edge of the card. A fun little project that is simple and cheery.
I drew the image onto my fabric with a color fast pen and colored it to match the card. Probably would have looked better had I should have stitched the edge of the fabric in red. But you know there is always something you could change. LOL
If you are interested here is a close up of the recipe. Very simple but the sauce makes a great topping for ice cream, cheesecake or cake.
Supplies: SU paper, scrap fabric, Scalloped rectangle nestie Label #10 and Scalloped lace square nestie and misc ribbon.
