TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

Our Challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is DIY embellishments! Our sponsor this week is My Grafico Digital Art. I used two different images plus the sentiment for this card. They were all water colored and the swirl flowers were cut in several layers and sizes for my embellies. I also made some leaves to go with it. I punched the corners of the sentiment with a MS daisy punch. We can't wait to see your own embellies so stop by and join us.

Happy Saturday

Here in the desert it is reaching the triple digits and the flowers will soon be gone. Since I don't have a card today I thought I would share a few pics flowers I took this morning.

hibiscus

The cactus have almost finished blooming now

My grapes will be ready to pick in another month
The trumpet vine likes the heat and is growing like crazy giving us lots of bright color and plenty of nectar for the visiting hummers.
These lilies are rather plain but they have the most delightful fragrance!

desert bird of paradise
double hibicus

I let this artichoke stay on to long so I cut it off and set it aside and forgot to take it to the trash. When I went to water last night it was putting out the purple spikes so I cut it and put in water and this morning look how pretty it is.
I love scented geraniums and they are not easy to grow here in the desert! I had a huge one for a couple years and two summers ago it was so hot and humid it rotted. Well this year I have all these little volunteers coming up from some the seeds that scattered.

Hope you enjoyed the little stroll thru part of my garden this morning. You all have a wonderful holiday weekend :)

PASSIONATLEY ARTISTIC

Happy Wednesday to you all. For our challenge this week we are looking for your summer creations. I've made a little hanger and used one of the pretty new Heart Song Digis frames.I water colored the frame and paper pieced the two biggest flowers. I then put the scripture in the frame. Flowers are always summery so made a few to go with my image.

I tell you I'm having withdrawals without a sewing machine or a die/emb machine! My sweet niec
e cut this base for me with a Spellbinder die. I went around the edge with the pink dots, added a couple doilies, some tea stained lace and my image.

I made my flowers from SU and Bazzill papers.

Added the leaves, butterfly and the dyed ribbon.I used brads to attach the ribbon to hang it by. A gift for one of the ladies in my Womens Ministry group.

ARMED FORCES DAY

Happy Saturday to you! Today is Armed Forces Day and my card is to honor all those who have served and are serving our country. My father was in the US Army and fought in WWII so I was raised in a very patriotic home. My girls father also served and fought in Vietnam, was wounded and received several medals but didn't consider himself a hero but rather just serving his country. Both of my daughters are married to military men who are deployed at this time. The last time my SIL was deployed to Iraq I was visiting them in Alaska and attended the Deployment Program. It was truely one of those life changing events. As I looked out on that sea of men and women on the tarmac and looked around me at all the fathers, mothers, wives, husbands and children in the bleachers the reality of the situation struck me. There would be some who would not return home alive and the lives of those left behind would be forever changed. It is at a great cost our brave men and women serve and I honor their sacrifice and the sacrifice of their families. It's not easy for the families to send them off either.

I had this old homespun SU set that I used. Since I cant sew, emboss or use dies I made it very simple just using a couple of punches for the border and little stars.

I really like this quote from Will Rogers " We can't all be heroes because someone has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by." So I applaud all of our heroes serving today.

PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE

Are you ready for the new "TAG IT" theme and/or the sketch.
Stop by and see the talented teams great creations and then show us yours.

I decided to make a shaped card and a flower pot sounded good. The flowers were made with red and yellow SU paper. I added red beads to the yellow ones for centers. The bottom of the pot was embossed and then distressed and creates the pocket for the tag.

The Pixie image is Hannah on the Bench by . She was water colored and cut out then added to the Spellbinder scalloped oval. The removable tag has the Big red flower on it with some of the leaves. I used buttons to attach the little tag with the sentiment. I love to make flowers and this project was great fun. I dyed some ribbon to match Hannah's dress and attached with
little red button. I really like how cheery the red and yellow look.

Passionately Artistry is featuring lace this month. So look in your stash and find some lace. We want to see what you have created with it . I decided to do a round card today. I used a MS punch for the daisy border. Next I gathered the lace and attached then added the Cricket print DP center cut with a Spellbinder flower 2. My friend Martha sent me a little package of beautiful lace trim. I have used one attaching it with brads diagonally across the card. Next I dyed some ribbon, made the flower, leaves, butterfly and cut the tag with a Spellbinder Beaded Circle.

TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

Hope your week is going well. Mine has started off a bit rough. The water on my washer didnt shut off and ran for over a hour. Two room flooded one being my craft area. I store some things in cardboard storage boxes so some stuff ruined and a huge mess to clean up!! Well enough of that... Today the sponsor for our Use Die Cuts Challenge is Bugaboo Stamps. They have a ton of wonderful images to choose from. I chose this cute cowboy because it brought back a flood of memories. My husband team roped and my oldest daughter rodeoed from a young age. She can ride like the wind and although the image is a boy it still reminded me of all the rodeos, gymkhanas, ropings, drill team practices and parades we attended as she was growing up so just had to use it!!

I used two dps for the base stitched on. Then I water colored the image, cut out a second hat and pieced for a little added dimension. The image was cut out with a Spellbinder Scalloped rectangle and attached with star brads. The stars were cut with Spellbinder stars out of cardboard and some gesso slopped on them. They were foam dotted on top of one another. I had the perfect star button that I attached with some twine.Used a punch for the little tag. Cowboys always need a rope so there is one hanging there ready to throw :)

Passionately Artistic

We are looking for lace here at Passionately Artistic this week. Stop by and join us.

I t was pretty slim pickings in the trim box. This was my only piece of lace trim. I would have liked to make a lace flower but no such luck :) The periwinkle paper was embossed, the bottom edge punched and then and stitched on. First I stamped a little flower image lightly on the paper then stamped the sentiment over them.Next I cut the scripture out with a Spellbinder label #20. Used some salvaged white corregated paper for the flower and added a little tulle in with it. Made a couple leaves and a bow and added the pearl flourish.

This card is for my Grandson. His birthday is Sunday and I can hardly believe he will be 12. Seems like it was just yesterday they put him in my arms and I finally understood what all those grammas were always going on about LOL Well anyways enough rambling. Chase loves to fish and his daddy is in Afghanistan right now so he hasn't been fishing lately. I thought I would make him a fun fishing card with the cute Pixie Image Gone Fishin by Di Carubia. Ths water colored image is cut out with a Spellbinder label #3 and added brads to the corners then foam dotted onto the blue. I used some hemp to tie on the button and the fishing hook that my sweetie so kindly let me snag from his tackle box. The sentiment was cut out with at Spellbinder label#17.

City Crafter Challenge

Good Morning, I'm so honored to be a guest at Kirsty's City Crafter Challenge. She has a beautiful Color Inspiration Challenge for you this week. Be sure to stop by and see the teams Fabulous Creations for some inspiration!

Since I love flowers and the inspiration pic is flowers I ran with it. I used some creme Bazill paper for the base of my card. I didn't have any dp to match the colors so I made the striped paper for the top and stamped the flowers on it. The top was cut out with a Spellbinder
label #20, stitched on and some buttons added. My niece loaned my the pretty embossing folder for the top section of the easel. I made a variety of flowers. The small ones have stickled centers for some bling and the large ones have brads. Some of the leaves are Spellbinder foliage and some I cut out and embossed them all with the dotted swiss folder.
The ribbon is dyed to match the blue flowers. The sentiment is cut out with Spellbinders label 20
some blingy jewels added and foam dotted on.

The base is embossed with the dotted swiss folder and stripes added to the sides. A piece of the coral is stitched down each side and the dots added. The flowers and ribbon added and a button stop finish the base of the card.

Its time for a new Challenge at Tuesday Throwdown. The theme is Mothers Day and our sponsor great Robyn's Fetish sent us images to use.

After embossing the green I stitched it down and foam dotted on the water colored image. Used a MS daisy punch for the white and purple border then stitched down the center. I made big flower by making a pin wheel, then added the inside petals and center with a brad and made a couple leaves to go with it. The sentiment is cut out with a Spellbinder and foam dotted on.
