Challenge # 86 at TTSTV

is Using Scraps.Do you have one of those overflowing scrap boxes like me?
This is your opportunity to use some of them. Pat has a great tutorial here
to give you some ideas.I had a little piece of dotted and a piece with hearts
so decided to go with a Valentines Card. After cutting the strips I added
them to a piece of cream card stock and then stitched it onto the card
base. I dyed and added some ribbon and a bow so it wouldn't
look so plain. After stamping the sentiment from the
Love Love Love Set I cut it out with a
Spellbinder Scalloped heart. I cut the pink heart and
embossed with a SU folder, then added another
scalloped heart and foam dotted it
onto the others. I also had a
little glittered heart I added to one of the hearts.
Dig into your scrap box and come by
and show us your creations!!

This is our prize for this weeks winner.

Easy Peasy Challenge!

It is dry embossing over at FOSTV this week!
Dry embossing always adds some nice dimension to your
cards and can be used instead of dp!
I used two different folders for this one, dotted swiss
is one but I don't know the name of the other.. My fun retro image is
from the Out ON The Town Set. After coloring her I added
some stickles to her dress hat and shoes.A pink doily and
some cotton lace ribbon to add some girliness to
it. I added a little cheesecloth for to the bow
and made a stick pin with some beads.
The sentiment is from the
Just A Note Set.

For this weeks winner the Stamp Set will be  cute Snow Gifts...

A Twist on Sponge Resist

You will find Pat's tutorial here.

I have not done this technique before. You will need glossy card stock of
which I had none so my sweet friend Martha sent me some to me. I tried it
several times with different colors of inks and stamps. For my final card
I used the single poppy image from the Welcome Poppies Set.
for the resist. The second step of this technique is to stamp in
white and I have used one of the small dragonflies for this step but its
hard to see in the pic. The large dragonfly
for the last step Both the dragonflies are from the Dragonfly Mini Set.
My sentiment is from the Today Tomorrow and Always Set and
cut out with a fancy Spellbinder tag.
All was matted onto the dark plum. The ribbon was dyed
to match and a simple little purple flower added.I decided to make
all my experiments up into some quick cards with a variety
of sentiments. As you can see you can
achieve lots of different looks using this technique,
different stamps and inks. It was fun so why
not stop by and give it a try.

Tuesday Throwdown Team B

Our Sponsor this week is Sweet N Sassy and our theme is Baked Goods.
Now another page for my recipe album seemed perfect for this challenge.
If you follow my blog you already know that I make  albums for my
daughters full of all of the families recipes. Having all the pages decorated
makes for a fun album adding some interest besides just having the recipes.
After printing and coloring some of the images I cut them out. After printing
the recipe I stitched it onto the fun blue dotted dp and finished the edge with
a MS dotted scallop punch. The top of the white was embossed and stitched
all around. The top border was cut from a yellow and a blue with the PTI die.
I attached the dk blue just slightly below  the yellow giving it
a shadow look. Lastly I added the colored images to
the page and its ready to go into the album.

FOSTV is challenging you

to make a Easel Card. You can choose to do any type of easel you like. I chose to do
a traditional square. I used the beautiful peacock image from the Be A
Showoff Set. The male is such a majestic bird with
such amazing color and a voice that carries for miles!
.I have colored my image with water pencil and then added
highlights with Luminese water colors. In person it has a
beautiful shimmer.  Then matted it, leaving it plain to show
off the image. The dp has glittery dots and add some fun
shimmer to go with my image. The mat was cut with a
Spellbinder die.The bg was embossed and added to the
holder. Using a SU scalloped border die I added a couple
of layers to the top and then used the Spellbinder fleur
de lis boder for the top. The HB Sentiment was also cut
with a Spellbinder die. A few jewels and raised dots finished
the top. The bottom was stamped with a feather from the
same Showoff Set, a few more layers of scalloped
and dots to finish off the bottom. The buttons stitched
on to make the stop for the top.

Sorry havent been around much ladies my computer has
been on the fritz but fixed last night so will be making the
rounds tonight after work.

Have you ever made a

Oriental Lantern, if not we have a tutorial to go along with
our challenge at TTSTV this week.
My mom loves Oriental things so this is going to be for her.
I thought that my piece of dp with all the symbols on it was
the perfect background for my lanterns. I punched out the red one
and if you look closely you can see that I  gold embossed it with the
peace symbol from the Asian Delight set. I cut out a triangle and
just made some random drops of red and embossed,
for the third one I cut a rectangle and rounded all the
corners then stamped with the little symbols from
the Be Virtuous set. All three lanterns were then run thru
the crimper. Doesnt show up much in the photo
but in person they look pretty cool. Tops and bottoms
and the hanger were added. The beautiful girl is
from the new December Release set called Calm & Wisdom.
I thought just adding her image no coloring was best to go
with the lanterns. The love symbol stamped and
matted on the black is also from the Asian Delight set.

You may be the lucky winner of the great stamp set!
Stop by and give it a go.

Today is my turn to share a project
using the New Paper Doll images.
I have chosen a mixed media hanger to show you but
I  have also used the whole set stamping some on dp
and coloring others for my granddaughter.
This new set has so many fun possibilities!! I hope that you have
stopped by each day to see all of the fabulous creations
my teammates have come up with!!
You will be impressed with the variety of ideas

First I stamped my doll, colored and cut her out. Next I
stamped her outfit on a piece of dp,
and used that for my color theme. After preparing
my canvas I added lots of texture with stencils and paste.
Then began adding color with dyes and paints. The
chipboard gears are colored
and textured adding the vintage button centers. The flowers
were also cut with Spellbinders and some
scrunched leaves added. So you can see she doesn't
just have to be used as a Paper Doll.

Even though my project is the mixed media piece I thought I
would show you a few of the ones I have made up for my granddaughter
They are versatile, I cut sleeves and legs off to make different outfits..
You dont see paper dolls much anymore, thought this would be a fun mom
and daughter time together. I actually
made another doll just havent colored and cut her out yet.

Black and White you say...

Yes that is our challenge at FOSTV this week.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Saturday
we had the most fabulous weather, no wind and 73 degrees!
A gardeners paradise~~  Okay, so on with the challenge,
sometimes the absence of color is a bit challenging dont you think?
You have to think a bit differently when its just black and white.
I love this dp with the cool black and white diamonds, and the little
dotted Washi tape seemed to be the perfect partner with them.
I embossed the top portion with a diamond folder
to mimic the bottom, then added
a little jewel at each intersection. The sentiment  is from the
Bring On The Sun Set and was cut
with a Spellbinder Fancy Label and using the chalkboard technique.
My cut out flowers are one of the images
from the Black Eyed Susan Mini Set, and definitely a
challenge not to color to it I might add!
A pretty simple card, I looked at it for a week trying to add
something more to it but nothing worked so this is it!
We all had different takes on the B&W theme so
you will want to pop over and check out my teamies
fabulous creations! And when you join the fun you also
have a chance to win  the Set this week.

Happy Friday...

Our TTSTV Challenge is to use the faux label technique.
You will find Thrifty Stamper's tutorial here. I have used one of
the November releases, Duck Hunting. After coloring and cutting
apart I rounded all the corners then mounted them on the navy blue.
The little  navy blue border is the leftover from a star border I used.
The duck is from the same set. The HB is foam dotted on.

This weeks winner will be taking home this cute little mini set.

Snowman Fun

That is the theme for this weeks challenge at TUESDAY THROWDOWN TEAM B.
I've never made a Christmas card in January before but there is always a first right
These images seemed to be perfect for a Christmas card so I will get an early
start this year lol. Robyn's Fetish is our sponsor this week and they provided
us these fun snowman images. I used two different ones for the card. The
large image is There is Snowplace Like Home the small one is Snow Days
are Fun Days. After coloring the small was punched out and added to the
snowflake the Large one was colored and run thru a Dotted Swiss folder.
The bg is a very old piece of dp Ive had, it had a cute reindeer border
and Ive been hoarding it forever. I decided to cut off the border and
used it The little top flap was cut with a Scalloped Oval and fastened
with a button. The sentiment is from a MFP a  Heinrich Co. cut
with a SU scalloped oval punch. Hope your week is off to a
good start. Pop over and see all my teammates totally
awesome cards for some additional inspiration!

The winner of this weeks Challenge will win get 5 digis of their
choice from Robyn's Fetish so stop over and join the fun.

FOSTV #106

Hope you all had a great weekend!
Our Challenge this week is a New Years Resolution. Now really
it's easy enough, think of your resolution or just something you
want to do differently this year and make a card that depicts that.
You can use a image or sentiment to convey the idea.I think of family
and friends often but get busy with life and not so good about staying
in contact, SO I have challenged myself to be more diligent in keeping
in regular contact with those special people in my life and also praying
for them daily! This is a start in that direction. For my card I used a
Bo Bunny lavender dot for the base and then stitched on  the little
scrap piece of dotted green and lace. The Pansy image is from the
Sending Happy Thoughts Set matted on yellow using the SU lattice
embossing folder. The hummer is from
the Hum Along Set.
Stop by and join the challenge this week, we would love to
see your ideas :)

Our Beautiful World

I decided I would play along with Our Beautiful World today. The Word is January.
Now I cant say that 2014 has started off very well however Im focusing on some of the better parts, so that is what my pic is about today. Here in the California desert we have had a mild winter with the exception of 1 week. I love to garden and in contrast to much of the country the winter is when you can grow the most.My garden is doing well so Im showing you a bit of that today. I especially  love pineapple sage, I always plant it in the spring and as soon as it starts heating up it dies so I never get to see it bloom. This year I decided to try planting it in the fall, it worked and I have been rewarded with the most delightful display of red blossoms.I took this yesterday while working in the garden, the sun shining thru the blossoms made them brilliant.
This was the largest spray taken from below

I planted it in a hanging basket  You see some turnips
and cabbage below where it hangs.
I cover all the tender things at night but the  tops of the peppers froze thru
the covering the leaves look a little ratty but the pepper were
 unscathed and are most delicious!
As soon as the weather cooled the artichoke burst thru the soil
and it hasn't looked back, it has grown amazingly! It's
already 4x4 and I'm looking forward to a bumper crop this year!

The Sugar Snap peas are blooming.
This is an experiment. I planted a couple zucchini seeds in a bucket
to see if we could get some squash in the winter and its
working. Its blooming mostly male but one female has set!

another shot of the pineapple sage
AND that is the best part of January for me!

Ever tried a V fold card??

That is the Challenge at Tutorial Time with Speedy TV
this week. This was a first for me and  and I like it. I must say Im not
sure that I would have been able to do it without my MS scoring board.
It was a gift from my friend Martha and it certainly was a lifesaver on
this project The folds do need to be very precise or you will get uneven
results, I know this because obviously mine were not on the first try lol!.
I love this pretty image from the Asian Delight Set. After coloring it and
cutting it out I added a little gold Stickles to the border of their kimonos.
Kimonos have beautiful shimmery embroidery and often times some
glittery gold on them. I have a beautiful one in blues from my time
in Japan and it has a lovely gold border on it. The sentiment is from
the Dino News Set and foam dotted on. A little matching jewel
added to the butterfly and its finished.
I like this fold with the Asian theme.

The winner of this weeks challenge will win this stamp set.
